Into the flow

Class:

In the class, I will share my interest in researching the motor and sensory capacities of the body. From microscopic to larger movements. Awareness of body weight and its use in relation to the force of gravity. I will use basic steps from urban dance, hip hop, house, and breaking, for movement research with attention to the relationship with music.

Bio:

Born in Lisbon, in 1987. He started in urban dances of hip hop culture at the age of 11, joining, three years later, the Dancer Training Course at the Academia de Dança Contemporânea de Setúbal, where he completed his studies in 2006.

He worked with Compagnie Alias, Amanda Miller, André Mesquita, Kamuyot project by Ohad Naharin, Itamar Serussi, Jo Stromgren, Christopher Arouni, Companhia It Dansa dancing to pieces by Ohad Naharin, Jirí Kylián, Rafael Bonachela, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Alexander Ekman, and Catherine Allard, Carte Blanche Company dancing to pieces by Hooman Sharifi, Sharon Eyal, Crystal Pite, Sang Jijia, Ina Christel Johannessen, Marcos Morau, Siri Jontvedt, Snelle Hall, Lina Majdalanie, Mia Habib and Marcelo Evelin.

In 2017, she joined the Batsheva Dance Company for 2 years, performing “Venezuela”, “Last Work”, “Hora”, “Mamootot” and “The Hole” by Ohad Naharin and participated in the creation of Marlene Monteiro Freitas, “Canine Jaunâtre 3”.

Since returning to Portugal in 2019, he has worked with choreographer Ina Christel Johannessen for the creation “When Monday Came”, as a replacement of “Frozen Songs” and “The Guest” and the creation of Pedro Ramos “Corpo Anímico”.

 

At the same time, he has been choreographing since 2010, “Stepping over stones” solo presented at the 16th International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival Stuttgart, Germany, winning the prizes for 2nd Best Performance, Audience Award and is invited to tour Germany and Brazil. , co-choreographed with Jens Trinidad “Flux” performed at Dansens Hus in Oslo and “As it is/ As it turns out” performed at Baerum Kulturhus, Norway. In 2021 he created “Now I know, I really don’t know” with its premiere at Mono Lisboa and “Podium”, a creation made for Camada-Centro Choreográfico, with its premiere at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

 

He has tought dance at various institutions such as the Carte Blanche Company, It Dansa Company, Academy of Dance of Jerusalem, Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Proda-Professional Danse Training, Victor Cordon Studios, Scottish Dance Theater.
