Workshop:
This is a physical contemporary dance class that focuses on exploring the body’s full physical potential. Through the use of natural internal tools, we aim to move with greater efficiency and ease. The class integrates principles from biomechanics and ideas of natural sources of energy, such as free fall, to create movement that is both powerful and effortless.
Vasko uses technical ideas from contemporary dance, breaking, and acrobatics. By collecting it together, we can use extreme physical movements and don’t lose the flow, we can play with the speed and softness, and other qualities.
It’s mostly a technical class, with the focus on combining technical principles with physical abilities. Vasko’s main idea is to perform it in an effortless quality without losing the power.
The class consists of a warm-up, using the locomotions with one of the technical ideas for the lesson. The next part is working with the movements and variations (speed, quality, space, initiations, etc), which combines to small connections. Also, there can constantly be added some improvisation ideas or partnering exercises, to understand the movements from different perspectives.
And at the end we go to the dance phrase, to feel how else possible to use the ideas.
Bio:
Vasko Nasonov is a dancer, teacher, and performer.
He started from hip hop and house dance, took part in many Russian and international battles, such as Juste Debout Italy, SDK, U-13, RMT and etc.
Since 2016, Vasko has been working with FarFor Yo dance company for 3 years. The company mixes hip hop techniques and contemporary dance. Starting from this experience, Vasko started to research contemporary dance. In this period, he also practiced capoeira, acrobatics, and yoga, which influenced his practice.
In 2017, he took part in Kseniya Shlezinger's educational laboratory, and here he started to learn contemporary techniques deeply. He was also a part of intensives by Eastman, Ultima Vez, DAR, and ImPulsTanz.
In 2019, he won the “Impulstanz dance contest”.
During this period, he has been working with different choreographers: Yoann Bourgeois, Mike Tyus, Ofir Yudilevich, Tomislav English, Niels Robitzky, Tori Wranes, Kseniya Shlezinger, Tatiana Chizhikova, Elena Fokina, Anna Abalihina, Pavel Gluhov, and others
Vasko is a dancer with Kseniya Shlezinger's dance project. He was a guest dancer with Yoann Bourgeois dance company, The Moscow State Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre, Fomenko workshop theater, and other projects all around the world.
Vasko gave workshops at ArtEZ university( Netherlands), Henny Jurriëns studio( Netherlands), Maslool program(Israel), Performact program(Portugal), Unusual Symptoms Dance Company (Germany), ImpulsTanz (Austria), IDW Budapest (Hungary), Equilibrio ensemble (Italy), B12 (Germany), Dance without limits( Czech Republic), Le Facteur (France), TanzQuartier (Austria),
Kezer belle (Hungary), DO festival ( Poland), and many other festivals inside Russia (Open Look festival, Context, Diana Vishneva, etc)
He was a guest teacher for Batsheva dance school, Inbal dance theater, Boris Eifman academy, Avshalom Pollak dance company, Kolben dance company, Vertigo dance program, Practice dance program, research dance program, I-dance m program, and so on
